I’ve been described as somewhat of an anomaly in the world of athletic development and exercise. I became fascinated with human performance at an early age and like many Gen X boys I took the alternative path of ninjas, BMX and Asian Martial Arts.

Jason C. Brown

Atypical for my generation, I pursued the techniques and tools necessary to make my fantasies of ability my reality. Joining the Marines immediately out of high school became the next logical step for a small town boy steeped in warrior culture. And again, atypical for my peers as a vegetarian and non-drinking Marine I made the most of my Marine experience where I was provided not only the means to train and cultivate my abilities, but also time for study.

In the late ‘90s I began Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) training with the renowned physical culturist Steve Maxwell. Today I present and speak around the world and have created and produced several DVDs and training manuals.

I’ve been published in Men’s Health, Men’s Fitness, Experience Life Magazine and CNN’s Fit Nation. I've worked as a consultant for some the biggest names in the fitness industry including Nike, Equinox Fitness Club, Midtown Athletic Club and Perform Better.

My formal education includes a B.S. in Human Movement Studies from Temple University in Philadelphia. I even managed to graduate on the Dean’s list. I’m a C.S.C.S . (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist) and have many other initials and acronyms behind my name that probably don’t mean that much to you.

My own personal Blissiplines are:

  • Anything in nature with my family and friends.
  • Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) and Judo
  • Natural Gymnastics and movement
  • Kettlebell Training
My purpose is to re-instill passion and romance into our connection with movement and play, to make movement and ability our primary aim, over appearance and ego, and to let joy, pleasure and excitement be our main motivations and inspirations.

Here’s how we’ll do it

• Escape numerical obsession and embrace physical expression.
• Build strong communities through movement, play and re~creation.
• To practice strength and meaningful movement in our everyday lives.
• To cultivate a sensible and sustainable movement practice and culture.

Here, I write and film about what inspires me, cool things I come across and what I'm up to.

When I'm not adding content here, I'm usually working on:

BJJ Workouts -  physical preparation for site Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

Kettlebell Athletics- my very first company focused on the Russian kettlebell. I created Kettlebell Athletics in 2003 it's still going strong but in an attempt to simplify my life it will eventually be absorbed into this site.
